New Lenox Fire District Foundation Partners with Macy's for Seventh Annual "Shop For A Cause"

The New Lenox Fire District Foundation will partner with Macy's to invite customers to participate in Macy's seventh annual "Shop for a Cause" charity shopping event.  Macy's 2012 Shop for a Cause will take place on August 25, 2012; customers can purchase tickets now at New Lenox Fire District Station One.  Macy's Shop for a Cause is a unique one-day-only shopping event created to suppport local charities' fundraising efforts.  This year Macy's contacted the Fire District after seeing an article written in the local paper about Red, the Fire District's new Search and Rescue Blood hound. 

"Giving back is a cornerstone of Macy's culture, and through our annual Shop For A Cause program Macy's has been able to raise more than $42 million for local and national charities that are meaningful for our customers and associates," said Martine Reardon, Macy's chief marketing officer. 

Macy's has provided the New Lenox Fire District Foundation with shopping passes to sell for $5 each.  The Fire Foundation will keep 100% of every ticket it sells.  The more tickets sold for Red, the more money it will raise to continue to pay for his food, training, and vet bills. 

By purchasing a shopping pass to the event from the Fire Foundation, customers support Red, the search and rescue dog, while enjoying a day of spectacular discounts, entertainment, special events.  Pass holders will enjoy special discounts on most regular, sale and clearance purchases all day! (Some exclusions will apply.)

"We just thought it was an easy way to raise money for Red and his upkeep, and most people enjoy shopping.  This gives them a guilt free way of spending money knowing it is for a good cause", states Chief Jon Mead.
