Mayor Receives Appreciation Award from Fire District

Fire Chief presents appreciation award to Mayor Baldermann.

Mayor Baldermann had a surprise visit from Fire Chief Jon Mead and Trustee Skip Minger, but it wasn't a house call or fire emergency.  The Fire Chief and Trustee surprised the Mayor with an award to show their appreciation of the support the Mayor offers to the fire district.Fire chief Jon Mead and Roy "Skip" Minger presented the Mayor with a bronze firefighter statue in his office.  "We just wanted to show the Mayor how much gratitude we have for a Mayor that supports the fire district the way he does", Chief Mead stated.  "He participates with activities the fire district is constantly involved with."Recently, Mayor Baldermann volunteered to be a part of a "search and rescue" demonstration where NLCTV filmed Red, the fire district's new search and rescue bloodhound, trying to "find" the mayor.  The mayor interviewed Chief Mead and two of Red's handler's then hid in the woods to have Red pick up his scent and find him, which he did so successfully.  The demonstration is slated to be on the schedule for Channel Six soon. The Mayor also supports the New Lenox Fire District Foundation by sponsoring a pancake breakfast every year and attends just to mingle with the citizens.  He also attends Community Family Fun Day and the Open House during Fire Prevention Month.Mayor Baldermann was not only surprised for the award but stated he felt very "humbled" to have received such a statue and appreciation.
