The National Weather Service is warning that thunderstorms could hit New Lenox. Storms are headed for Cook, Will, Grundy and Kankakee Counties any time this afternoon and throughout the night.

NWS said there is an expectation of gusty winds and small hail.

Chances are better for thunderstorms later in the evening when "an upper level wave is expected to cross the area," according to NWS. North Central and North Eastern Illinois are expected to get "multiple rounds of storms," which could lead to flash flooding.
