The 2nd Annual Country in the Commons Concert Features the Eli Young Band

Mayor Tim Baldermann said a contract clause prohibited an earlier announcement.

The Eli Young Band is coming to New Lenox for the 2nd Annual Country in the Commons Concert.

The Grammy-nominated band is scheduled to perform Aug. 16 at the Performing Arts Pavilion in the Commons on Veterans Parkway. The headline band will take the stage at 9 p.m.

While the village has been able to promote the concert by hanging posters in the Mayor Tim Baldermann said a proximity clause in the contracted prohibited a formal announcement.  Because the band was previously booked to perform this past weekend in Milwaukee, the village was told it couldn't announce its ticket sales until this week.

The price of a ticket is $25—$10 less than last year's Sara Evans country performer. Tickets can be purchased at New Lenox Village Hall, 1 Veterans Parkway.  A total of 5,000 tickets are available. Already more than 700 tickets have been sold. The mayor advices fans to get their tickets early.

The Triple Play Concert Series, featuring Bad Company, Rick Springfield and Foreigner is sold out. Tickets sold in only 3.5 weeks.

Plans for the country music concert night include two opening bands, the names of which have not yet been released. The first opening act performs at 5:45 p.m. and a second will take the stage at 7 p.m.

The park opens at 5:30 p.m. rain or shine.  Free parking is available at the Village Hall South Lot and New Lenox Library, 120 Veterans Parkway. Free parking and shuttle bus is also available at the United Methodist Church of New Lenox, 339 W. Haven Ave.

Free shuttle service to and from United Methodist Church begins at 5:15 p.m. and ends at 11:30 p.m.
