LWHS District 210 is expected in the 2013-2014 school year to save $65,334.77 in salary alone with the shift from the soon-to-be retired Supt. Lawrence Wyllie to .
According to the contract, the compensation package for the 24-year veteran superintendent was identical to all other LWHS District 210 administrators. The contract states: "… (T)he salary increase will be equal to the average salary increase approved by the board for all administrators."
In a comparison between Wyllie's 2012-2013 contract and Tingley's for next year, the district stands to save $915.84 in the pension contribution plan. The contract specifically states: "(T)he Board shall pick up and pay on the Superintendent's behalf, the Superintendent's entire annual contribution to the Illinois Downstate Teachers' Retirement System (TRS)."
Due to the expected changes in the Teachers Retirement System (TRS), Wyllie told the board in earnest six months ago that he wanted to retire in June 2013. However, he and the board began preparing for Wyllie's retirement two years ago. With 54 years of service in, plus two years of unused sick time, Wyllie has logged a total of 56 years in education. The state allows $25 a day for unused sick time. But the maximum is 50 days. That's $1,250, said Johnson.
Since the district does not have an "accrue" policy, the two years "means nothing for Larry," said .
As Tingley comes on-board, the district will see a savings of $198 on annual life insurance premiums; Wyllie's annual life insurance premium is $648 and Tingley's is $450. The cost of Wyllie's health insurance premium is $15,357.81 for this year. Tingley, however, has not elected to participate in the district's health insurance program.
Tingley will sign the contract in January, but it won't go into effect until July 2013, added Stacy Holland, district community relations director. To satisfy a legal requirement, Tingley's salary schedule for 2013-2014 was posted on the district's web site on Dec. 14.
District records indicate there is no post-retirement pay-out package for Wyllie. Holland explained that the district has no allowance for that. And while it is the practice of some school districts to provide significant retirement packages to administrators, Lincoln-Way does not provide such perks.

The district has no post-retirement benefits package, nor does it allow any carry-over of health care insurance, said Wyllie.
The contract mentions only one allowance. Upon retirement, Wyllie and his wife "will have lifetime staff privileges regarding the fitness center, the field house, and the pool, as long as they remain residents of District 210."
Johnson said Wyllie has no benefits that are unique from any other certified administrator in the district. There will be no "lump-sum' pay out, he added.
Wyllie's annual pension in retirement is based on the TRS' usual calculations—75 percent of the average salary from the last four years. That figure has "yet to be determined by TRS," said Holland.
Deputy Supt. Tom Eddy's contract
Deputy Supt. Tom Eddy's contract is built identically to Wyllie's. His final salary figure for the 2013-2014 during his 47 years at LWHS District 210 is $213,283.81.
