Ten Ford car sales reps from across the country will reach out and touch a truck Monday night during "Fingers on a 4x4"—vying for a chance to sell an F-150 King Ranch to The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon. Among them, Tinley Park resident Pete Porzio of Currie Motors Ford in Frankfort.
"...they'll each put one hand on the truck, and leave it there for as long as they can," Fallon said. "Whoever holds it there the longest, without taking it off, I'm going to buy the truck for that person.
Porzio was prepping for what could be a long stretch, shortly before the taping Monday night.
"There's not much we could do to prepare," he said. "Right now, you think you can do it for a long time."
Porzio was chosen by Ford Motor Company because he "embodies the Ford Go Further spirit of ensuring every customer who walks through the door finds the vehicle that best suits their needs and the needs of their family."
He's not sure what he was thinking when he agreed to it, Porzio said, laughing.
"My mind wasn't working," he said. Still, he's going to give it his all.
“...I hope my legs, like the F-150, are tough enough to withstand the most demanding challenges," he said."I'm going to try hard, and try to win this for Chicago."
The competition will take place at the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum at Pier 86 in New York City and can be followed online and on Twitter at @fallontonight. To join the conversation, the official hashtag is #fingersona4x4. You can show your support for Pete with the hashtag #frankfortpete.
Porzio called Patch 15 minutes into the competition, with one hand on his phone, and the other on the truck's tailgate.
"There's no doubt about it," Porzio said. "I'm sticking it out."
