Will County Residents Give Metra a Piece of Their Mind

The daily train ride to work can make a world of difference on how the crucial 9 to 5 goes. The same can be said for the commute home on Metra Rail and how that experience impacts the time spent with family during the evening.

But what can be done to make your experience better?

Metra held an open house from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 24 at the to get feedback from Will County residents on their experience with Metra. 

"Over 300,000 people a day take Metra, so anything you can do to improve Metra is going to benefit the region," Metra analyst Kristen Andersen said.

The people in attendance were able to ask Metra staff questions, along with being able to give their feedback on what goals and vision Metra should have going into the future during the open forum.

Some of the vision options included: providing the safest service to its customers, leading the industry in technological innovation and facilitating economic vitality throughout Northeast Illinois.

"I saw some of (the display) ahead online, so if someone wanted to look at it, they could prime the pump," Frankfort resident Alicia Hanlon said.

If residents were unable to attend the event on Tuesday evening, they can visit Metra Rail's Strategic Plan portion of its website to take a survey on how they believe Metra should be using its 'scarce capital dollars.' The survey will be available for residents to fill out until Aug. 10.

There will be another round of open houses in the fall after Metra looks over the data received from the surveys residents filled out.
