Which restaurants in the Lincoln-Way communities have the best gluten-free food?
Patch invited Facebook fans to share information about restaurants in the Lincoln-Way communities that offer a good gluten-free menu. From the responses, it looks like Frankfort's OMG It's Gluten Free Café, 19810 S. Harlem Ave., topped the list. Following that were plenty of pizza parlors that offer gluten-free choices.
Here are some of the responses from Patch Facebook fans:
"OMG Gluten Free Cafe on Harlem by LW North."
"OMG, It's Gluten Free has a lot of delicious options."
"OMG It's Gluten Free is really good, expensive, but good."
"And Chicago Dough in New Lenox is very good. He makes several gf things."
"Double Yolk (Mokena) has GF pancakes, but that place is way too loud for my sensitive ears. Chipotle (New Lenox) says its GF but I still get sick. Cafe Miele in Orland (159th and Wolf) has a bigger GF menu list on the back of their menu. That's my personal favorite. Parmesans Pizza (Frankfort) sells good 10" GF pizzas but their place is so small!"
"Parmesan's has great gf options including an amazing gf dessert. Francesca's in Frankfort and Williamson's in New Lenox do well at accommodating gf diets."
is a good option as long as you don't get tortilla or chips. (Rice is naturally
"The Irish Pig. Order it without the bread, just hand cut French fries."
"Papa Joe's is good and the staff is well educated/trained with regard to gluten."
Nearby restaurants and specialty stores that sell gluten-free options
"In Lemont there is a store called The Gluten Free Shoppe (next to the Jewel) and it sells grocery items, fresh and frozen food items, and to-die-for 5 layer cookie bars."
"Vegan Cafe & their market next door (Lockport) is all GF, but fairly expensive due to its type of food preparation requirements. Great place to check out, though!!"
"Cooper's Hawk in Orland Park."
