Walgreens, Physician Offices Open at Silver Cross Campus

Patients, doctors and other community members celebrated the opening of a new medical services building Thursday at the Silver Cross replacement hospital in New Lenox.

The building, at 1890 Silver Cross Blvd., is part of the new hospital campus and includes a variety of physicians and services. On Thursday, guests were treated to refreshments and tours of the facility, which is managed by the NexCore Group.

"This was a big project for us," NexCore CEO Greg Venn said. "It's all been very exciting."

The first tenants moved in Dec. 2, but Thursday marked the grand opening. Michelle Gayeski, NexCore's vice president of leasing, said there are currently 29 tenants and she continues to lease spots.

Gayeski said one of the appealing aspects of the new location was the direct connection between the medical offices and the rest of the hospital, making it easy for doctors to move back and forth.

The portion recently opened is an additional 54,000 square feet in Pavilion A. The full size of the medical services building is 182,000 square feet. Pavilion B—which contains additional offices, and the —has already been open for a while.

Many of the physicians at the existing hospital in Joliet have relocated their offices to New Lenox. It also includes the Rehabilitation Center of Chicago, a diabetes center, the Heartland Cardiovascular Center, behavioral health specialists and more. One of the most notable parts of the new opening is a Walgreens pharmacy located in the lobby shared between Pavilions A and B, allowing patients and others to pick up a prescription immediately.

Silver Cross Hospital officially opens Feb. 26. On Sunday, Feb. 12, the hospital is offering free tours to the public and will also provide entertainment for families.
