Vote: The Most Loved Pizza in New Lenox

The Patch Pizza Playoffs: We're looking for the pizza lover's pizza. But we need your help, and your vote.

Getting ready for Sunday's game? Got the big screen TV and your favorite pizza place on speed dial? When the big game ends, there may be a champion but the debate over who's really the best will never end.

The same is true for pizza. But we're going to try to find The Most Loved Pizza in the Southland in Patch's first Pizza Playoffs.

Patch users have a lot to say on this.

  • "Papa Joes takes pride in every aspect of the business ... they have proven to have some of the best pizza in New Lenox!"
  • "Love (Italian Fiesta Pizzeria) pizza. None better. I live in central Illinois and I take some home with me everytime."
  • "(Little Joe's) pizza is great....nice thin crust...especially w/ all the fixin's."
  • Chicago Dough: "This is real pizza, not cheap fast food pizza like objects."

Here's our lineup for New Lenox. We're focusing solely on local pizza places — no regional or national chains. The pizza to garner the most votes in this round will advance to the championship round, facing off against winners from throughout South Suburban Patchland.

Talk up your favorite in the comments. Tell everyone why you love a particular pie!

Little Joes has the perfect thin crust from cheese to sauce to toppings. It's a classic style delivered in the paper bag as God intended. The pizza is always fresh. I have had all the other pizzas in town and this is the most consistent great tasting pizza.

I love Chicago Dough! Pizza is great! Soups are to die for!
Con Serned February 02, 2012 at 08:01 PM
No Nancy's? That's my favorite! I know it's a franchise, but heck, Italian Fiesta is the President's favorite, and that's not local, that's Hyde Park!
Aimee Kameron February 02, 2012 at 09:12 PM
Chicago dough is the best!!!love the fresh salad bar & all the varieties of pizza!..live the gyro pizza!
Linda February 02, 2012 at 09:42 PM
Love Chicago Dough ! Best buffet ever !
DGallagher February 02, 2012 at 11:09 PM
Without a doubt, Chicago Dough. We used to get it when it was only in Richton Park. So glad they opened in New Lenox. Best veggie pizza with all fresh ingredients. The sauce is well-balanced and not too salty. Cheese... well, it's wonderful. We love Chicago Dough.
Darin Johnson February 03, 2012 at 07:29 AM
I think we have beaten the "best Pizza" thing to death! Everyone has a favorite, everyone thinks they know whats best, and the debates from "topix" to "patch" over the last few years will never end. People are very opinionated about their pizza, all the Chicago dough fans are probably still pissed "Shakeys" closed down. The Papa Joes fans are just happy they don't have to drive to Joliet to get their favorite pizza little ceasers....and Little Joes is good-try the "code violator thin crust" -yummy!
alski February 03, 2012 at 05:54 PM
Italian Fiesta Pizzeria."The Best" Chicago Dough is overrated and overpriced. Also I'm not a big fan of buffet meals and in my opinion pizza should not be a buffet item. Also reviewers be reminded the category is "pizza" People who comment and then add something about soup and/or salad bar may not be focusing on the pizza. As far as Con Serned's remark Yes the Obama's got their "favorite" pizza in Hyde Park....but there is an IFP in New Lenox ( you need to get out more ) :-)
Jasmine Mackin February 04, 2012 at 02:14 AM
Chicago dough is the best pizza hands down. NOBODY has ingredients as fresh, and if you dispute that then you probably haven't been there YET! Try it you'll like it :)
Darin Johnson February 04, 2012 at 03:04 AM
Chuck E Cheese uses fresh ingredients also....does not make it good pizza. All these places are fine, I just think it's funny when people seem so adamant about their place being the best-hands down-best ever-.
Darin Johnson February 04, 2012 at 04:57 AM
Michael how can this be a real contest when I can vote as much as I want when not logged in? Obviously someone from Chicago Dough figured that out also and got a litttle greedy by piling on over 300 votes in a day. You would think this person would just add 10-20 a day to make it look legit, As I write this Prime Time has no votes-but I will go give it 10 just in case people think this is a lie.
Kathy Heath February 04, 2012 at 03:15 PM
Chicago Dough IS the best, and as far as getting 300 votes in a day, well there's your clue it's good, fresh and the people there are great!! Hands down it's the best in town!!!!!
Michael Sewall (Editor) February 04, 2012 at 03:59 PM
@Darin, the poll says it's unscientific. We don't block people from voting multiple times if they want to. The only way to do that would be by IP address, which would in effect stop multiple people living under one roof from voting. Regardless, I've seen polls where people are obviously voting over and over and over, and this doesn't seem to be the case here. I think one of the reasons Chicago Dough is winning right now is that they're an involved business on Patch and because of that might have a stronger fan base willing to vote online. They've claimed their business directory listing, post calendar events, uploaded videos and even responded to a review. By the way, what's your favorite pizza place in town? That would be a good contribution to the comments.
Darin Johnson February 04, 2012 at 04:54 PM
No offense Michael- but the poll is pretty useless then. Do you believe they suddenly got 72% of the vote? would other places survive? C'mon man! How about creating a timeline on the vote-I am sure your webmaster would tell you how that came to be. And Kathy...I have some land to sell you ....I don't need a clue-and you have NONE! Sorry kids, the honor system does not work when it comes to this stuff.
Stephane Carlson February 04, 2012 at 05:08 PM
Darin...check out the other patch voting sites and do the math. Why are you so negative about this anyway? Don't like it? Don't read it! It's that simple. This is an opinion poll...thus, people will leave their opinions. Get over it. It is what it is.
Darin Johnson February 04, 2012 at 05:25 PM
Chicago voting aside, you can vote for many things online these days. Almost all sports encourage online all-star voting. One per email-not IP Michael. Surely you get that right? I mean if you spent 300 grand or so to open a pizza place, people from "patch"came into your place and had flyers wanting you to hand them out cause there was a big so called "competition", and your place came up looking lame cause you did'nt know cheating was an option,I think you may have a different opinion on the whole " vote early vote often" policy. I mean Papa joes won a competition at the vfw last week...and now they are 340 votes behind Chicago Dough? thats 347-17 folks with 21 comments....I really do like Patch but this is just dumb.
Stephane Carlson February 04, 2012 at 05:54 PM
Did you go to the vfw? That place was a madhouse! Nobody knew what they were getting. Pizza was being handed out left and right! Meanwhile, that was based on who showed only...ever think that, perhaps, Papa Joes worked hard on getting their supporters in the door? I'm sure is quite likely. Nevertheless, if you find this dumb, so be it. Oddly enough, you appear to be the only one who has issues with this.
Michael Sewall (Editor) February 04, 2012 at 06:06 PM
The point of this poll to gauge readers' favorite pizza and to get the local pizza places involved. I know Chicago Dough has made copies of fliers and hung them throughout the restaurant, and posted more than anyone else about it on Facebook. Based on recent reviews and the comments, I think it's obvious they have reached more fans than anyone to inform them about the contest.
Stephane Carlson February 04, 2012 at 08:41 PM
What happens when the next round starts? Same way to vote? I'm looking at the Tinley Patch, for example, and see that they have almost 30k votes total. Last night at 10:30 they had under 13k votes total. That's a lot of votes in 3 days time!! Aah, got to love Chicago voting. Wait a second, in the time it took me to type these few sentences and reload the TP Patch page, the count on that page went up over 100 votes!! At that rate, New Lenox in general won't even have a chance!
Dave Baer February 04, 2012 at 09:06 PM
Chicago Dough is awesome! The pizza's are great! I say Pizza's because they have such a great variety. They have your standards but also unique pies.
Darin Johnson February 04, 2012 at 10:11 PM
Stephane-seems to me you insulted me.....then totally took my side. I fully believe Papa Joes could have cheated, but there is no doubt in my mind Chicago Dough has cheated here. When does voting end....maybe I will single handedly put my favorite through......
Robert February 05, 2012 at 12:48 AM
Chicago Dough has a great sauce and cheese.
Stephane Carlson February 05, 2012 at 01:27 AM
Here's the difference that I see, Darin. While yes, Chicago Dough's votes "exploded" in one day to approximately 300, it looks as though the "hype" has settled down, because if you've noticed, they're still holding at 360 only 2 days later. I really am convinced that it was just that, hype. Meanwhile, another voting page now shows almost 45k votes...15k more than 4 hours ago. BIG difference here. Did I say that Papa Joe's cheated? You mean, at the vfw event? If most of the people there were Papa Joe's fans, that's not cheating. They won fair and square because they brought their supporters to the event. Kudos to them! Just as this one, I don't think that was a "scientific poll," either. Isn't that the same as sending out email blasts to customers, hanging fliers, and promoting on facebook? Remember, word of mouth travels like wildfire, too. I merely stated an observation and asked a question how the next round is going to work based on said observations. I'm curious by nature as this could get interesting down the line. Your observation(s), on the other hand, only lead to the conclusion that this "just dumb." Duly noted. It's not a political election. It's pizza, for goodness sake! But it's fun to watch because this is going on in several places. I see that you enjoy playing devil's advocate. You have fun with that.
Stesha February 05, 2012 at 04:17 AM
Went to The Chicago Dough Company for my first time today. Learned about this voting site while there. That was some good stuff!! My family and friends were right. Can't wait to go again!
Ricky Burks February 06, 2012 at 04:44 AM
Chicago Dough Company all the way! My friends and I love the buffet. My personal favorite is the buffalo chicken pizza, although most of my family prefers more "normal" toppings.
Raymond Stawick February 06, 2012 at 07:24 PM
Popa Joe's Love their thing crust and all of their Italian dishes
Darin Johnson February 08, 2012 at 06:12 AM
Stephane you proved my point. why would they continue to pile on votes when they were 300 or so ahead.....duh. And shocking...all those votes came and then died down. i wonder why if they kept promoting the votes were not a steady flow....weird huh? I am sure if you had a voting timeline you would find a couple hundred votes at least all within an hour....If you think this type of voting "could get interesting" than I can't help you. Tell me in life what kind of voting takes place like this? If they promoted like everyone said they probably would have won anyway....I merely pointed out that the voting system is dumb-cause it is. lets do another one and put speedways 2 for $2 pizza on the list and I will show you why the voting was set up wrong.
Con Serned February 08, 2012 at 01:55 PM
Hmmm, I think Darin, that you are taking a fun thing a little too far. It seems to be a local "fun" thing to do, vote for your favorite. Feel free to not participate or even read the articles if they are so upsetting to you! Relax and enjoy the Patch, or not!
Darin Johnson February 09, 2012 at 07:46 AM
Con Serned you are probably right. I just have a hard time dealing with false advertisement or cheating. And I really feel for any "Patch athlete of the week" who does not know you can vote as many times as you want-unlike any other competition they will ever be in. It's flawed, it's silly, but you are right it's just Patch.
