What goes into a 20-minute fireworks show? Up to 12 hours of work and a whole lot of preparation. We got an inside look at Melrose Pyrotechnic's work on the New Lenox fireworks show.

Although a fireworks show only lasts about 20 minutes, the prep work that goes into it can last up to 12 hours. We got an inside look at everything that happens behind the scenes to create a show.

In 2011, I met up with  of Frankfort to see how they put on the New Lenox fireworks show. Ryan Miarecki, Robert Perritano and Jacob Ziada of Melrose Pyrotechnics showed up to the at about 8:30 a.m. and showed Patch the step-by-step process of rigging a show.
