Following the frenzy of Black Friday, one of the largest shopping days of the year, local businesses will come together to support Small Business Saturday.

Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving, and the small business' counter-punch is the following day. In New Lenox, the is working with businesses to promote local shopping and deals.

You can check back here or the chamber's website for local deals that will be offered that Saturday, Nov. 26. Here's what is listed so far:

  • : 10 percent off holiday decorations; buy nine ornaments and get the 10th free; and $10 off a fresh holiday arrangement of $50 or more.
  • : Buy one product at the New Lenox store and get the second at 50 percent off.
  • : 15 percent off purchases/orders of more than $50. Not valid on sale items.
  • : $50 off a Small Business Start-up Package: Federal, State and Local Registrations, Consultation, Advice, Referrals and more.

"This year we are asking everyone to take some time to shop small," chamber CEO Deb Hypke said in a news release. "This campaign is designed to bring special attention to those merchants who are often forgotten in the frenzy of Black Friday and Cyber Monday marketing and advertisements."

Especially during the busy holiday shopping season, the chamber encourages local shopping. The news release said these businesses are critical to the local economy, with an average of $68 of every $100 spent locally going back to the village through taxes and payroll.
