Providence Grads Return to New Lenox to Open Integrated Physical Medicine

Drs. Scott Kenny and Jon Polcyn opened the business in September 2010 and specialize in providing chiropractic care, physical therapy and massage therapy.

After graduating from in 1997, two doctors are back in New Lenox providing care to the community they love with their business, .

Drs. Scott Kenny and Jon Polcyn opened the business in September 2010 and specialize in providing chiropractic care, physical therapy and massage therapy. The practice also offers strength and conditioning, pre and post surgical rehabilitation, nutritional counseling and athletic training.

"We knew the direction we wanted to go in with health care after high school," Polcyn said.

Polcyn grew up in Elwood and studied at the University of Illinois, and Kenny in Homer Glen and studied at Loras College. After that, they both received their doctorate in chiropractic at the National University of Health Sciences in Lombard and moved to New Lenox.

Wanted to come back to New Lenox because it's a growing community and they thought it would be the "easiest open," with old friends and teammates instantly becoming clients.

"The plan was always to come back here," Kenny said.

Kenny wrestled at Providence and Polcyn played baseball and football. Their interest in physical therapy stemmed from their own sports experiences, and also from their families, as they both have relatives in health care profession, including radiologists, dentists, chiropractors and more.

"My senior year of high school I hurt my knee and didn't do anything about it," Kenny said. "It all caught up with me. I got lucky, but I should have done something."

That's why they love what they do—they don't want anyone to deal with chronic pain. One of the biggest challenges they face is getting people past the narrow view of a chiropractor cracking your back and sending you on your way.

"A lot of people don't know what we do," Scott said. "People think a doctor twists your neck, and we battle that perception every day."

Instead, there's a wide range of services offered, whether you've got a disc injury in your back or just want to work on stabilizing your core. They also have nutrition and weight-loss programs. In the first five months of the year, 11 people lost at least 325 pounds through IPM's "Take Shape for Life" program.

They also have a working agreement with their neighbors, , and actually share a door between their business and the gym.

Integrated Physical Medicine is a business that gets involved in the community outside its own walls, too. For example, they became the official team doctors for the semi-pro Lincoln-Way Patriots football team, and they also work with the Providence Celtics wrestling club, Cheer Envy and more.

"It's fun for us. We like to get in with somebody on a more preventitive level," Polcyn said.

Almost two years in, Polcyn and Kenny said they're looking to expand in the area and continue providing quality care.

"That's one of the beauties of what we do: With all of the tools we have here, we can almost always help," Kenny said.
