Prime Time Restaurant and Bar Opens in Bluestone Commons

Under the same ownership as Williamson's, Prime Time is a new sports bar with an enormous menu.

Cousin to New Lenox favorite , the is an upscale sports bar with a varied menu, plenty of draft and bottled beers, and cloth napkins.

It opened last week in the Bluestone Commons off Joliet Highway and Route 30 in the old location of Bluestone Bar and Grill.

Decor: The restaurant is divided between a dining room with low wooden tables and a bar area with high tables and booths along the perimeter. The bar is large and open. TVs showing various sports games adorn the walls.

Main menu: The main menu is enormous. There are several entree salads, including a Greek salad, Caesar, chef and Buffalo Bleu. Pizzas are listed on a separate sheet. The pasta and chicken section includes macaroni and cheese, penne ala vodka, teriyaki sesame chicken, chicken piccata, Southern fried chicken and fajitas, among many more.

A full page of sandwiches and wraps are available, including a burger with a pretzel roll, a reuben, pannini and a club sandwich. Several steaks are available, including a ribeye, a New York strip, and filet mignon. Other meat entrees include pork chops, lamb chops and ribs. Seafood selections include scrod, shrimp, tilapia, salmon and fish-n-chips.

Kids' meals, such as macaroni and cheese and chicken tenders and fries, include pop and a scoop of ice cream, and a light menu with grilled proteins and steamed vegetables can be found on the back of the menu.

According to my server, sandwiches and wraps have been popular so far (they just opened April 13), so I tried the Mediterranean chicken wrap ($8.99), which is served with chips, fries or sweet potato fries and a cup of soup (a side salad is only complimentary with entrees). The wrap included feta, cucumbers, black olives, tomatoes and a viniagrette. The chicken was moist, hot and seemed grilled to order.

Desserts: Choices include caramel apple pie a la mode, New York style cheesecake, Xandos (cheesecake wrapped in a flaky pastry dough and cinnamon, deep fried and served over ice cream), a turtle sundae, and the "Cookie Monster," a giant baked chocolate chip cookie served with ice cream and drizzled with hot fudge. A slice of apple pie ($4.99) seemed the appropriate accompaniment to watching the Sox on one TV and the Brewers on another. My slice didn't come with ice cream (either a misunderstanding or a new restaurant kink to be worked out) but with the caramel sauce drizzled over, it was plenty sweet.
