Library Cafe Closes Indefinitely

Library Director Kate Hall said the Book and Bean Too cafe closed Jan. 16 because the owner, Kim Stoltz, is working through medical issues.

Just four months after opening in the , a cafe is closing indefinitely.

Library Director Kate Hall said the cafe closed Jan. 16 because the owner, Kim Stoltz, is working through medical issues.

The cafe was a welcomed addition to the library, which saw the space sit empty for two years until Book and Bean opened Sept. 12. Hall said the cafe would bring in an additional $5,000 or more in annual revenue to the library through rent.

"We had it sitting empty for two years and we do not want that to happen again," Hall said.

In the meantime, Hall is going to work with Stoltz and the library board of trustees to determine the best path. First, she must determine whether Stoltz will be able to return to running the cafe, and if so, when. But if she can't return, the library will begin seeking other tenants to fill the space.

The library board's next meeting is Feb. 13, and Hall hopes to have a better idea of what will happen at that tie.
