KellyBelly Fitness Closes in New Lenox

The dance studio is closing and joins other businesses along Illinois Highway that have recently shut their doors.

Kelly Forrest used fitness to turn around her life as an out-of-shape medical student, and then used that experience to help others stay fit in New Lenox when she opened the KellyBelly Fitness & Dance studio in 2011.

But a little more than a year after opening, Forrest decided to close the studio, in part because of a recent job switch from registered nurse to wellness nurse, and also because of the struggles of running a small business.

"We haven't been breaking even for awhile, and the overhead is just too high," Forrest said on the KellyBelly website. "I have tried many things to remedy the situation, but it just hasn't been improving, so I made the final decision to close the studio."
