House of Hughes Officially Closes

Along with Lazy Dogz, two local restaurants have closed recently. But what do you want to see take their place?

The fate of the was in flux since March, but last week it auctioned off everything inside: chairs, dishes and more.

Located at 201 E. Maple St., it's in a nice spot right next to the Metra lot location, a place commuters could grab a drink after work or meet their families for dinner.

House of Hughes' sister location in Crestwood closed in March, . For the time being, the restaurant operated under the name "The Station House," but ownership wouldn't say whether they had any potential buyers.

"It's nobody's business," an owner said.

Mayor Tim Baldermann said there haven't been any site plans submitted for the location. Some rumors have gotten around that the sports pub Tilted Kilt was looking at it, but Baldermann said that's not true. He said Tilted Kilt was interested in a location closer to a few years ago, but decided to go elsewhere.
