Help Wanted: New Lenox IHOP Needs More Job Applicants, Says Manager

The new IHOP being built on East Lincoln Highway could use some more prospective workers, a district manager said.

A new IHOP is slated to open for business in New Lenox before the year is out, but will it have enough people working there?

IHOP District Manager Chris Van Spankeren said he has only received about 100 applications so far and believes he will need to make at least that many hires before the restaurant's projected opening on Dec. 30.

Van Spankeren was not sure why job hunters have been slow to apply.

"I don't know," he said. "It's hard to tell."

One problem, he said, may be a lack of exposure as workers have needed to take down his help wanted sign.

"It keeps going up and they keep taking it down to do landscaping," he said.
