Have You Visited Mattina Café at its New Location?

Open daily from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., Mattina Café is cooking up everything from omelets to grandma's special recipe soups.

The new 1,000-square-foot Mattina Café replaces LA Café, which closed after a fire in January 2012. The fresh face of Mattina's is located at 280 E. Lincoln Highway. The location provides better visibility, said Manager Dino Poulakis. Previously, it was set back in a strip mall in the 400 block of E. Lincoln Highway.

While the café has gotten a rejuvenated look along busy Route 30, it maintains its broad menu of breakfast and lunch favorites. Poulakis said the soup menu is built on a lot of old family recipes. The current offerings of steamy favorites include creamy chicken rice, Mediterranean barley and Italian lime chicken along with several bean varieties.

The chicken dumpling soup is one of Poulakis' favorites. The recipe was created by his grandmother. The special ingredient, he said, is "love."

The café also offers two rooms for private parties.

As a business owner in New Lenox, Poulakis said he's committed to participating in the community and supporting it, especially the schools.
