Good Burger Opens in New Lenox

The restaurant opened June 22 across the street from Lincoln-Way Central High School.

After Wynder's Spiral Cut Hot Dogs closed in New Lenox, a first-time restaurant owner is giving it a go at the spot across from . 

The restaurant, called Good Burger, opened Friday, June 22. For owner Mike Jaber, a Frankfort resident, it's a lifelong dream come true.

He grew up around restaurants because his father operated some, and he said he's always wanted his own. So much so, in fact, that he already had a lot of the necessary kitchen equipment stored in his garage just waiting to be used.

"I just knew I was going to do it someday," he said in a previous article. "This is what I've always had a passion for."

Jaber was a truck driver for about 18 years and said he always drove by the Hickory Creek Plaza, located on Route 30 across from the high school. He lost out on the location before but jumped at the chance when he saw .

Recently,  in the same strip center. Jaber said he thinks Good Burger will complement that restaurant because they offer such different kinds of food. 

The menu consists mostly of burgers, beef sandwiches, sausage, hot dogs, gyros and chicken nuggets. The atmosphere is that of an old diner, with metal booths.

"I'm trying to bring the taste of the city to the suburbs," Jaber said.
