Elixir Group Fitness Clubs Opens in New Lenox
Fitness fans and members of the New Lenox Chamber of Commerce were pumped up about the grand opening of Elixir Fitness Clubs.
Elixir Group Fitness Clubs celebrated its grand opening Thursday with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Club owner Marlene Carlson said New Lenox was a good location to open a fitness club.
Despite the Route 30 construction project, she looks forward to attracting a crowd to the 3,700-square-foot facility located at 1860 E. Lincoln Highway. Members of the New Lenox Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Tim Baldermann along with family and friends were on-hand to welcome Carlson.

The key aspect to Elixir is the fact that it offers nine different types of group fitness activities:
- Body Pump
- Body Attack
- Body Combat
- Body Step
- Body Flow
- Body Jame
- Zumba
- Spinning
- TRX (Suspension) Training
A life-long interest in health and wellness motivate this New Lenox resident to finally open her own shop. What makes group exercise fun, said Carlson, is the interaction. "People sit in front of the computer all day, and they don't get real interaction."

Once they get to Elixir, they have a chance to enjoy themselves with music while working out with a trained instructor.
Store hours are:
- Monday-Friday—5:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m.
- Saturday—7:15 a.m.-noon
- Sunday—8:15 a.m.-noon
