Tonight: Businesses Offer Holiday Messages to the Troops

They will record a free video message and post it on YouTube before Christmas. The business owners invite New Lenox residents and others from the area to come to Village Hall from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20.

Two small businesses based in New Lenox are working together to offer families a chance to prepare a professionally produced video message to their loved ones away in the military.

Ann Piasecki of , which prepares life story heirloom projects and marketing materials, and Tyler Morris of , an Internet marketing agency focused on social media and Web development, will capture your stories and messages to share for those who can't be home for the holidays.

"It's the next best thing to a hug from home," Piasecki said in a news release.

The business owners invite New Lenox residents and others from the area to come to from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20. No appointment is necessary, and Piasecki said there should't be much of a wait to record your message.

They will record a free video message and post it on YouTube before Christmas. At the event Tuesday, they'll take your email so they can send a link to the video that you can share with your loved ones.

"We always talk about what a great community this is, and it's because of people stepping up like this," Mayor Tim Baldermann said during Monday night's Village Board meeting. "They're willing to give their own expertise and time to do this."

The two will combine their storytelling and video production skills to create a holiday message for the troops. Morris has friends who are currently overseas, part of what spurred the idea. His company has also through the group Salute the Armed Forces.
