When and how did your business get started?

The New Lenox office of American Portfolio Mortgage Corporation opened its doors in October 2012. New Lenox Regional Manager Gene Mundt is a 36-year veteran of the mortgage industry.

Mundt started in the mortgage business in 1975 when went to work for what (at the time) was Lincoln-Way Savings and Loan in New Lenox (now Chase Bank). He attended classes while working and learning both the Mortgage end of the business and Residential Appraising too.

Mundt has served in the mortgage industry his entire business career. His background as an Appraiser benefits his mortgage clients and referral partners in a great number of ways.

Mundt grew up in Manhattan and attended Lincoln-Way High School. Upon getting married, He and his wife moved to Mokena. They lived in Mokena for over 25 years, raising their sons there. Mundt served as Mokena Chamber of Commerce Vice-President for two years and President for three. He also served as a Village of Mokena Trustee for two years. He was a founding member of the Mokena Jr. High School Athletic Booster Club and served as its vice president for one year and its president for two years. After his boys graduated from LWHS, the Mundts moved to Lockport, which is where we reside today.

What is your business best known for?

We offer free mortgage consultations, pre-qualification for mortgage financing, first-time home buyer counseling and assistance, conventional loans, FHA, VA, USDA financing, refinance loans, portfolio loans and jumbo financing.
