40 Dock Workers Wanted, Interviews Friday

Forklift operators and dock workers are wanted for a shipping and receiving dock in Elwood. Interviews begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday in Joliet.

A shipping and receiving dock in Elwood is looking for forklift operators and dock workers.

Forklift operators are needed to unload and load trailers on the dock, and dock workers are wanted to sort and palletize the unloaded materials.

Nancy Hoehn, New Lenox's economic development director and chair of the Sept. 13 Job Fair at Village Hall, received an immediate request Thursday afternoon for help finding employees for jobs listed as temp-to-hire after 90 days.

The jobs are located at a shipping and receiving dock in Elwood. The rate is jobs $10.50 per hour.

However, the interviews will begin at 9:30a.m. Friday at the Workforce Connection Center (Goodwill In), 3084 Hennepin Drive, Joliet.

Marvin Martinez, specialist at the Workforce Center, said his office is conducting interviews to fill 40 positions for the first shift, 6 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

"This is not a warehouse. There are no items stored in the facility. It is strictly a cross dock and is consistently receiving and shipping product all day long," he said.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50-to-60 pounds
  • Must be able to bend and lift at the knees
  • Must have 3 months recent experience

Martinez said these positions come with an opportunity to grow. "All associates have the chance to be trained and certified on the sit down forklift even if they don't have experience."
