National Weather Service Issues Severe Thunderstorm WarningA

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect till 10 p.m. in the Lincoln-Way communities.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of Will County, including New Lenox, Frankfort Square and most of the Metropolitan Region.  

The severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 10 p.m. Monday (June 24).

The storms will be capable of producing wind gusts reaching 70 mph.
 
At 5:46 p.m., the NWS reported that severe thunderstorms were located in New Lenox and moving at 60 mph.  The NWS said to expect considerable tree damage and damage to mobile homes, roofs and outbuildings.

NWS has described these thunderstorms as "dangerous." The wind gusts have been responsible for downed branches and damage. NWS is suggesting that residents stay indoors and to stay away from windows.
