Summer Concert Update: Where Are All the Country Fans?

Triple Play Concert Series tickets are nearly sold out, but there are plenty remaining for the Sara Evans Country in the Commons show.

After residents begged for a country headliner for one of the Triple Play Concert Series shows, New Lenox added Sara Evans to the inaugural "Country in the Commons" event.

But now Mayor Tim Baldermann is wondering, "Where are all of the country fans?"

As of last week, the Triple Play Concert Series tickets were nearly sold out, with about 4,600 of the 5,000 available tickets gone. The $60 tickets provide admission to three shows: Night Ranger, Heart and Styx.

The Sara Evans show, however, hasn't sold as well. About 1,600 of the 5,000 available tickets were gone last week. Baldermann said he announced the ticket availability on two major area country radio stations, but he's still hoping interest picks up before the June 22 concert.

Tickets to the Country in the Commons event are $30 and must be purchased at Village Hall. The opening artists are country acts Abigail Rose and Jason & the Haymakers.

The first of the Triple Play concerts is nearing, with Night Ranger opening the festivities on June 2. They'll be joined by Ides of March, featuring Jim Peterik, as well as Peace Museum.
