UPDATE: Sean Kingston Concert Canceled After Critical Injury

The hip hop singer was set to perform July 7 in New Lenox, but tickets will be refunded now that the show is canceled.

Hip-hop singer Sean Kingston's summer concert in New Lenox is canceled.

Kingston, who was set to perform July 7 as part of the New Lenox Experience weekend, was in critical condition this week after crashing a jet ski in Miami. According to The Los Angeles Times, Kingston is recovering from water in his lungs, a broken jaw and a fractured wrist, and he'll take six weeks to heal.

Mayor Tim Baldermann said everyone who purchased the $20 tickets to the concert will be refunded. If you bought a ticket, bring it to with an ID to fill out a refund form. People who purchased tickets online and cannot make it to Village Hall may call the village and explain why.

Baldermann said the short notice means a replacement act is not likely, but he's still excited for the other festivities that weekend, including sports and music camps by Devin Hester, Dwyane Wade and Jim Peterik, as well as a carnival and the annual Kids Fest.

"We wouldn't rule it out," Baldermann said of getting another concert. "But it's very unlikely. We still have a huge event going on out there."

According to the Associated Press, Kingston was stabilized and moved to the intensive care unit at a hospital after he and a female passenger were injured when the jet ski hit the Palm Island Bridge at about 6 p.m. Sunday.

Mayor Tim Baldermann said Kingston's concert, which was scheduled for July 7 at , is still tentatively on but that the village will get more information about the artist's condition as he recovers.

"We're hoping he has a speedy recovery," Baldermann said.

If Kingston is unable to perform, Baldermann said all tickets purchased would be refunded. But a replacement on such short notice would be unlikely.

The concert served as an opening to the , which also features sports camps with Dwyane Wade and Devin Hester and a music camp with Jim Peterik. Tickets for Kingston's concert are $20 and available at Village Hall or online through June 24.
