NL Lions Club Hosts Special Needs Day

The New Lenox Lions Club made sure Friday that there was plenty of lively music, food and fun for some 700 to 800 special needs children and adults.

The New Lenox Lions Club Friday sponsored its 12th annual Special Needs Day at the Proud American Days celebration.

Club members along with numerous volunteers gathered to serve up a day of fun for special needs children and adults.

Between 700 and 800 people, mostly from the Lincolnway Special Recreation Association and Trinity Services, were treated to an afternoon of carnival rides, cotton candy and dancing to name a few of the activities offered.

Lions Club Event Chair Lynn Eckhardt said the event is organized as a community service. It coincides with the organization's commitment to outreach for those in need.
