New Lenox Adds Country Star to Summer Concert Lineup

Sara Evans will perform in New Lenox on Friday, June 22. The tickets are separate from the Triple Play Concert Series and will be $25 for residents.

After hearing from residents who wanted a country artist to headline one of New Lenox's summer concerts, the village is adding a fourth show with country star Sara Evans.

The concert is Friday, June 22 in the Village Commons and is separate from the Triple Play Concert Series featuring Night Ranger, Heart and Styx.

Tickets for the Sara Evans show go on sale March 19 and will be $25 for residents in the 60451 zip code through April 27. After that, tickets will be open to anyone and cost $30. They must be purchased at Village Hall during regular business hours.

At a town hall meeting last year, one question residents asked was whether a country artist was possible. Because of costs to get big-name country acts, however, Mayor Tim Baldermann said it's best to go with the aging rockers.

"Country music made a change to pop country," he said at the town hall meeting. "To get the kind of country music people want to hear today costs two to three times as much as rock bands."
