Lincoln-Way West Madrigals Present 2nd Annual Madrigal Dinners and Festival

The Lincoln-Way West music department is proud to present the second annual Madrigal Dinner and Festival with performances on Thursday, Dec. 2, Friday, Dec. 3, and Saturday, Dec. 4, in the Fine Arts Auditorium of Lincoln-Way West, 21701 S. Gougar, New Lenox.

"Come join in the festivities as over 30 performers take the stage to present music from the renaissance era along with some of your favorite holiday songs. Our madrigal singers audition in the spring, are chosen right before school is out, then start rehearsing in the summer," stated Tom Venutolo, choral director for Lincoln-Way West.

"This year we are honored to have an additional madrigal group, the Madrigal Ladies, as well as a variety of new instrumentalists such as a harpist and a flute trip," added Venutolo.

"We're all doing something we are passionate about, singing and performing, it will be a great show," stated Sarah Leahy, a senior in her second year as a madrigal singer.

Madrigal singer Rachel DiVittorio, a senior, "It's a lot of hard work, but once the dinners are here, it's a lot of fun and worth all the work."

Ariel Ruttenberg, a senior, stated she is excited to be performing in this year's Madrigal Dinners because it will be her second year, and "bigger and better" than last year.

"I am really excited this year; I have a bigger part of the madrigal dinners this year. It's a lot of fun seeing the evolution of the Madrigals at West. This year will be bigger and better. I want to invite the entire community to come and see it," stated Eddie Brennan, senior Madrigal singer.

The dinner will be catered by Enrico's Italian Restaurant of Frankfort, and starts at 5:30 p.m. with the festival beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets are $28 and may be ordered by calling 815-717-3507.
