Lincoln-Way ArtWorks Festival

Students from 34 area schools, including all four Lincoln-Way high schools, will exhibit their dance, speech, drama, music and visual art talents at ArtWorks 2011, a fine arts festival sponsored by Lincoln-Way Community High School District 210.

“We are pleased showcase the talents of our students as well the students at the junior high and elementary school levels,” said Superintendent Lawrence A. Wyllie. “It is our hope that the entire Lincoln-Way community can spend a few minutes observing our great students in action.”

Visitors to ArtWorks 2011 will have an opportunity to view musical performances by school bands, choirs and youth strings; attend a variety of art demonstrations and hands-on workshops for all ages; and view original art pieces by students and staff at Lincoln-Way High School District 210, New Lenox School District 122, Frankfort School District 157C, Summit Hill School District 161, Mokena School District 159 and Manhattan School District 114.

Professional artists John Tylk, Ken Hawke and Ted Fuka also will be on hand to demonstrate various art techniques.

“ArtWorks is an excellent opportunity for everyone to come out and enjoy a day filled with musical and dance performances, as well as a variety of hands-on art workshops for all ages,” said Phil Labriola, Art Department Chair and ArtWorks 2011 Coordinator.  “ArtWorks is free, so bring your family and spend the day enjoying the arts!”
