One of the area’s most acclaimed community theatre groups stages one of the world’s most beloved musicals as the Lincoln-Way East stage comes alive with “The Sound of Music” January 6-8, presented by Curtain Call Community Theatre.
The final collaboration between Rodgers and Hammerstein tells the true story of a Maria, a high-spirited postulant sent from the convent to act as governess to the seven children of a widowed naval captain. As she brings music and laughter back into the home, she captures the hearts of not only the children, but of Captain Von Trapp as well.
In addition to the title song, the show features such classic favorites as “My Favorite Things,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” and “Do Re Mi.” In addition to the Von Trapp household, the 70-member cast includes two dozen nuns from the nearby convent and an energetic children’s chorus, with scheming concert promoter Max and the equally wily Baroness rounding out the group and adding comic relief.
Performances are Friday and Saturday, January 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, January 7 and 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Lincoln-Way East High School, 201 Colorado Avenue, Frankfort.
Tickets are $19 for adults and $17 for students and seniors. To order tickets or for further information visit ccctheatre.com or call the box office at 708-699-2228.
