Christmas Break Theatre Camp at the Hub

Consider this for a unique Christmas present—a three day theatre camp in New Lenox.

New Lenox's Mestas Musicals is featuring a three-day theatre camp over the Christmas break for children in grades 1-8 at the Hub.

The three-day program is the brainchild of New Lenox's Lori Mestas. Having performed on stages around the world, Mestas has shaped her expertise into a creative outlet for children. She calls the program, Making a Difference Children's Theatre.

The Christmas break camp is designed to give the kids something fun to do while their off school, she said. "It's all about holiday fun."

Camp is scheduled from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 26-28 at the Hub. It offers youngsters a chance to learn about the stage, and it has an added advantage. "It's something for parents wondering what they're going to do with the kids over break," she added.

The camp concludes with a Friday performance and a party at 2 p.m.

“My background and degree are in dance,” said Mestas. She and husband Robert are both in showbiz. The couple regularly performs patriotic song-and-dance shows at White Fence Farm in Romeoville and elsewhere.

This week, Mestas, who is a professionally trained dancer and theatrical performer, will be joined by professional stage actress Ta-Tanisha Jordan of Channahon.

The cost of the Christmas Break Camp is $125 with multiple child discounts available. For information or to register, call Mestas at 815-723-8093.
