Baldermann: 'Major Bands' Interested in Triple Play 2012

The work of booking next year's concert series headliners essentially began as soon as this year's was over. The New Lenox mayor credited REO Speedwagon with spreading the good word.

While promoting another upcoming, village-sponsored concert, New Lenox Mayor Tim Baldermann took a moment to give an update on the search for 2012 Triple Play Concert Series bands

OK, a very small update.

"We now have major bands expressing interest in playing here," he said. "It's going to be great."

The mayor couldn't say which bands, but he said the popularity of this year's series (which sold out 5,000 tickets to Cheap Trick and REO Speedwagon) really helped spread the word about the venue on the .

Concertgoers loved the REO show so much that they've called the mayor to request an encore. Baldermann said he's already talking to some bands about playing the 2012 concert series and would likely stick with '70s rock bands.

He said the village could try to add a country show the night before one of the larger concerts or possibly make one of the three shows a country headliner, though it can be difficult with a steeper cost.

The village usually agrees with the headlining bands by February, Baldermann said. In the meantime, tell us in the comments which bands you want to see.
