The Heart concert will be the first Friday show for the Triple Play Concert Series, now in its fourth year. Mayor Tim Baldermann said the village had been trying to get that band for a while and changed the show to a Friday to make it work.
The bands fit the classic rock mold of past Triple Play performances that include Kansas, REO Speedwagon and Cheap Trick.
"We're at a point now where you know the bands well," Baldermann said. "I think we've topped it again."
All shows are at the performing arts pavilion, which was packed last year after all 5,000 tickets sold out. Baldermann said the village is considering ways to ease foot traffic on the grassy hill, including possibly making an area for lawn chairs only.
No blankets would be allowed from the standing room area in front of the stage to the top of the hill, and aisles would be painted off to make it easier for fans to walk in and exit. There would still be space for blankets on the back and sides of the hill.
For the second straight year, the village will also ask concertgoers to bring at least one non-perishable food item to donate to local food pantries.
Although many residents have asked for a country act to headline a Triple Play concert, the village has balked at the idea because of the considerable cost increase. However, Baldermann said he's trying to find a country artist who could possibly perform for an August show separate from the Triple Play series.
