Providence Band/Choir Gets Superior Ratings

Providence Catholic High School Band and Choir represented their school at the IHSA Solo and Ensemble Competition at Thornwood High School on March 5. Junior Maggie Blackburn of Frankfort received a perfect score, while several others, including senior Sarah Formentini of New Lenox and junior Katherine Formentini, of New Lenox received near perfect scores. Overall, the Providence Catholic Band and Choir took 15th place out of more than 100 schools in the Solo and Ensemble portion of the State Music Tournament.

In recognition of Earth Day, New Lenox Girl Scout Troop 531 will be collecting Unusable Electronics during the month of April. There will be collection bins throughout the village for a number of items.

L- Way West Poms Place 5th in State

The Lincoln-Way West Varsity Poms came home from the TEAMDance Illinois State Competition held Sunday, March 6 at the Peoria Civic Center as true champions. The West Warriors Varsity Pom squad earned a fifth-place in the “A Hip Hop” category for state competition, as well as being nominated for the “True Colors Sportsmanship Award.”

New Lenox American Legion Needs Volunteers for Moving Wall

American Legion Post 1977 needs volunteers and donations to help with the Vietnam Moving Wall when it comes to New Lenox for the Memorial Day weekend in May.

New Lenox resident is Bolingbrook Hospital’s Employee of the Year

Sandra Konecki-Blair works with hearts. As an echo cardiovascular technician at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital, she operates equipment that takes a comprehensive ultrasound of the heart. Recognized for forming productive relationships with staff and patients, she was named the hospital’s 2010 employee of the year.
