LW-West Students Collect Gifts for New Lenox Families 

Lincoln-Way West students and staff participated in the holiday spirit to provide help to 21 New Lenox area families and veterans in this holiday season. Donations of gifts valued at over $6,000 from 30 different groups were given out to area families.

Lincoln-Way Music Students Qualify for All-State 

Five students, four from Lincoln-Way Central and one from Lincoln-Way West high schools have qualified to participate in the All-State Illinois Music Educators (IMEA) Conference on January 28-30 in Peoria. Students qualifying from Lincoln-Way Central were: Vicky Vargas, Honors Choir; Robert Peterson, All-State Choir; Kent Van Kley, Vocal Jazz Ensemble; and Alex Boeckman, Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

Teen Winter Reading Program

Teens can read books from Jan. 3 to March 1 for the chance to win prizes. For each book a teen reads, he or her will be entered into a raffle to win a $5 Subway gift card, a $10 iTunes card and a $20 GameStop card. There also will be a weekly drawing for a free book as long as supplies last.

St. Jude School Brunch for Seniors

Student Council members of St. Jude School, New Lenox,  held their Christmas Brunch for the senior members of the parish on Thursday, Dec. 16.  This annual event is a way to thank the parish's senior members for their volunteer services to the school and parish.

Safe Ride Home Returns for New Year's Eve Revelers 

Five south suburbs have again joined forces to reduce the number of drunk drivers traveling on New Year's Eve. The Village of Orland Park has offered the Safe Ride Home Program for nearly twenty years, with Palos Heights, Mokena, Tinley Park and New Lenox all coming on board over the last several years.

St. Jude Giving Tree Has Another Successful Year 

The Spirit of Christmas Giving is alive and thriving at The Catholic Community of St. Jude in New Lenox. For the 19th consecutive year, parishioners selected envelopes from the Giving Trees in the church narthex the last weeks of November.  Each envelope held the wishes of families and individuals who are in need in our community this holiday season.
