Wind Chill Warning in Effect Till Wednesday Morning

If you don't take precautions you may die, the National Weather Service said.

Gusting winds and frigid temperatures will plague the Frankfort and New Lenox areas for the next couple days, the National Weather Service said.

The National Weather Service issued a wind chill warning through Wednesday morning. The wind chill values may go as low as minus 40 degrees mid Tuesday morning and down to 30-below Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service also warned that "blowing and drifting snow early this evening could result in some roads in open and rural areas becoming partially drifted over."

Lack of preparedness in such circumstances could be deadly, according to the NWS.

"A wind chill warning means the wind will combine with very cold air to create dangerously low wind chill values," the warning said. "This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia or death if precautions are not taken."
