ShareFest 2013 Promotes 30 Days of Service

ShareFest 2013 promotes 11 Days of Giving and a total of 30 Days of Service throughout the month of September.

The annual ShareFest volunteer event has grown significantly over the years, but this year, it will be 30 Days of service, which includes 11 Days of Giving.

ShareFest is an annual event that brings together hundreds of volunteers to work on service projects throughout New Lenox and help others in need through various collections.

ShareFest volunteers will be out from Sept. 1-Sept. 14 at collection sites around town to gather books, food, supplies for the troops, clothes and home goods.

Since 2006, volunteers from the ShareFest organization have come together in September to help their community. This year ShareFest is expanding its yearly event to a full 30 days, said Gary Cheney, ShareFest chairperson.

Along with the collections, is a health and safety fair, job fair, hazardous waste collection, home repair projects for the needy and more, he said.
