Remembering 9/11: A Patriot's Day Ceremony is planned for 9:11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the New Lenox Village Commons' Firefighters Memorial.

A Patriot Day Ceremony is planned to remember the firefighters and others who lost their lives in the Sept. 11 attack on the Twin Towers in New York City and later the Pentagon in Washington, DC.

A solemn ceremony will begin at 9:11 a.m. on 9/11 at the New Lenox Firefighter Memorial at the Village Commons, 1 Veterans Parkway.

Almost 3,000 people died as a result of the coordinated terrorist attack. The attack by the al-Qaeda was a coordinated operation of high jacked airliners. The first plane crashed intentionally into the north and south towers of the World Trade Center, according to the Twin Tower website .
