Lincoln-Way Central '14 Alum Wins Fall Fest Poster Design Contest

Becca Gilbert's watercolor painting beat out 20 other designs for the honor.

Becca Gilbert, who has just graduated from Lincoln-Way Central High School, is the proud winner of the poster contest for the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce annual Frankfort Fall Festival.

The winner was announced immediately preceding the opening Concerts on the Green, sponsored by the Chamber, in downtown Frankfort on Sunday, June 15.

Gilbert’s poster was chosen from over 20 designs submitted by art students from each of the four Lincoln-Way High School District 210 high schools. This is the sixth year the Chamber of Commerce has sponsored the poster contest for Lincoln-Way students.

Participating art students submitted creative and unique pieces that represented the 2014 Frankfort Fall Festival theme, Everyday Super Heroes.

The announcement and award presentation was made by 2014 Fall Festival Chairman Keith Ogle who congratulated and presented the Central graduate with a cash prize of $250.

“Her watercolor painting of a father and son dressed as super heroes walking down a pathway really represented the family and the feel of Frankfort and the Fall Festival,” said Keith Ogle.

“We’re thrilled to be able to partner with the Lincoln-Way schools for this poster contest and support our young high school artists.”

“It is always interesting to see how each interrupts the theme through their preferred art medium. The students are very talented,” stated Karen Blake, executive director.

The Frankfort Fall Festival, sponsored by the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce, is a three-day arts and crafts fair which brings together over 300 artisans and approximately 350,000 visitors from around the country every Labor Day Weekend. This year’s Frankfort Fall Festival will take place August 30 – September 1.

As a part of the Frankfort Fall Festival, the poster contest has been held annually since 2009.
