Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week. Look for the kids’ planner each Wednesday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips—just add them to the comment box.

Dance Recital

Where/When: 6:30-7:30 p.m. Friday at the New Lenox Village Commons, 1 Veterans Pkwy.

Why Go: dancers will be performing their annual recital along with and . This is a free show offered to anyone who loves to watch dance of any kind.

Why Go: After for the grown-ups, the Kids' Dashes for kids aged 10 and younger will begin approximately 10 a.m. from the start line. Distances and heats will vary by age. All Kid’s Dash participants will receive a ribbon and first-place winners receive prizes.

Pricing: $5 for the Kids' Dashes.

Why Go: Grab your pillow and blanket and curl up for an afternoon movie during the library's summer kids film series. This week, Shrek Ever After (PG, 93 minutes) is screened.
