Daisy Troop Learns to 'Make the World a Better Place'

The troop visited Silver Cross Hospital's Teddy Bear Clinic and learned about first aid and CPR.

  • Story submitted by Beth Lamb, New Lenox Girl Scout Leader from Troop 466.

Daisy Troop No. 466 and their teddy bears visited Silver Cross Hospital's Teddy Bear Clinic to earn their Rose-Colored Petal Patch entitled "Make the World a Better Place."

They learned about first aid and how kids can save lives. They practiced CPR, the Heimlich Maneuver and how to stop a bleeding wound on their Teddy Bears.  Miss Gwen, the Teddy Bear Clinic Hostess,  discussed toy and bike safety, too. The Daisy Scouts did their best to "Make the World a Better Place" by learning how kids can save lives and donating gently used books to the Unity CDC Reading Room for underpriviledged children located at the Mary Magdeline School on Briggs Street in Joliet.

The Reading Room is part of the National Hook Up for Black Women and Reading for Life Movement that pledges to provide books or a small reading library in every child's home.
