One annoyed woman from Rockdale is asking New Lenox residents to join her in the fight to halt future noisy concerts. She's specifically targeting the Electric Daisy Carnival held over the Memorial Day weekend at Chicagoland Speedway.
After a three-day weekend of eardrum-bursting thumping and vibrations enough to shake collectibles off shelves, Amber Cox of Rockdale is starting a petion. She invites residents in New Lenox, Mokena, Frankfort, Manhattan and more to sign.
Cox posted the petition on Change.org. She's entitled it: Joliet City Council: Stop the EDC Concerts.
The petition states:
This concert is not only a noise factor for Joliet, IL but to surrounding communities as well. It is well known that these type of rave concerts bring a high denand for drugs and alcohol. Playing this techno type music in a suburb till 4 am is unbelievable. These type of concerts should be held in big cities such as Chicago. We live in the suburbs, and I dont think this town especially needs anymore bad press.
So far Cox's petition has gotten 114 signatures. She's hoping to present the petition at the next meeting of the Joliet City Council at 6:30 p.m. June 4 at 150 W. Jefferson St.
Cox told Patch that she was stirred to start the petition after having to calm the tears of her frightened 2-year-old. "He was in tears from the booms."
Cox said she belongs to a group formed over the weekend called, "Hey Joliet,Electric Daisy Carnival Has To Go."
