New Lenox Library Will Excuse Fines for Food

Food for Fines is an annual program at New Lenox Library. You can waive up to $15 in fines if you bring non-perishable food.

New Lenox Public Library District is offering to waive up to $15 in fines from today until Aug. 10. Just bring in a non-perishable food item for the New Lenox Township Food Pantry.

So, if you have been waiting to pay off those fees or have an item that is very overdue, bring in food to get the slate wiped clean.

Food for Fines is done once a year to help collect food for theNew Lenox Food Pantry. Kate Hall, director of New Lenox Public Library, said, "We ask that you check that your donated food is not expired and is in good condition.  Food items may not be used for lost or damaged materials."

If you don’t have any late fees, but still want to donate, please drop off your donation at the front desk until Aug. 10.
