Jennifer Bumba has a rich history of musical participation, but has not been on the stage in costume since her performance as a strawberry seller in a local production of Oliver! back in 2001. Bumba, of Frankfort, sidelined her own stage career to be a mom, but has often lent her talents to the behind the scenes management of her children's own musical endeavors. When her son Peter expressed interest in auditioning for Curtain Call Community Theatre's upcoming production of Oliver!, Bumba thought her main role would be chauffeuring him back and forth to rehearsals. Young Peter, a third grader at Chelsea Intermediate School in Frankfort, is one of the Fagin boys in the Dickensian musical set in 1860's London, which opens January 4th at Lincolnway East High School. His mother was pleasantly surprised to learn that she will share the stage also: as the Widow Corny, the orphanage mistress who abuses Oliver when he dares to ask for more gruel. "I'm thrilled to be performing with my son" said Bumba, "but I'm also just so happy for him and the entire cast. Oliver! is a great family friendly musical, and a wonderful opportunity for the community." To cheer on Widow Corny, her young Fagin urchin, and the rest of the cast, purchase your tickets at www.ccctheatre.com or call the box office at 708 699 2228. Oliver! runs through January 6th.

Jennifer, you are so talented and it has been a joy watching you rehearse. Peter, you crack me up with all that Gin you get into. I can't wait to sit back and see you both, Opening Night, when my nose can finally get out of my notebook. Break a Leg!

This experience has been so much FUN! Thanks to those who gave us the opportunity to do this. I'd also like to mention that I got my daughter Emily Bumba involved as well assisting the musical director in the pit!
