NLAA 14U WATER POLO TEAM
New Lenox Aquatics Association (NLAA) 14U Water Polo team just finished the fall season with a 3rd place finish at US Central Division Championships held at Chicago Latin High School. The team is comprised of local youth athletes who train and practice weekly at LW West High School and is coached by Jim Lock – Varsity Head Coach at LW Central High School.
Led by leading scorer Kyle Karpluk along with players Erin Muellerschoen, Andrew Ponsiego, and Jason Sterkowitz, NLAA had a balanced attack that was supported by defensive players Noah Hibler, Cody Torres, Noah Schor, and goalie Devin Janosek. The ‘Pisces’ advanced to the semi-finals losing 5-4 in a close match that featured great physical defense by both teams and limited scoring. The team’s 3rd place finish was clinched when they beat the Libertyville Cats 10-5.
Coach Lock is very proud of all of these young athletes and the work that they put in to be a successful 1st year team. Many of these players will be moving on to their high school careers and hope for continued success in the LW West and LW Central pools. Coach Lock’s program also continues to grow and attract new players at younger ages introducing more and more to the sport of water polo.
