State police said a Park Forest woman was killed Wednesday in a car accident near Interstates 80 and 355 in New Lenox.

According to the SouthtownStar, police did not give the name of the woman who died. Another person was injured in the accident and taken to Silver Cross Hospital. The accident involved the car and two semi trucks.

The accident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday in the westbound lanes of I-80. The car was hit from behind by one of the semis, which caused it to hit another truck in the next lane, according to police.

Traffic was slowed for about three hours and re-routed onto I-355.
