Patch editors caught up with poll-goers adamant about exercising their right to step into the ballot boxes. What brought them to the polls?

Virginia Lenhart, 87, New Lenox Township, saw the New Lenox Township-proposed Electricity Aggregation issue as key. "The Village of New Lenox has these things." Lenhart offered a bit of wisdom for those ultimately elected to office: "I think anybody in any office should act with integrity and not just consider this a job. ....They seem to lose ethics."
