McGee's - Tremendous big flavor steaks and incredible wine selections. The place and personnel are perfect. There just is no better dining experience around!

Williamson's has the best steaks. Lots of choices and always delicious. Try their steaks on Steak Mondays for $10.

Jenny's Steak House in Mokena should have also been included. I have had some of my best steaks from Jenny's. In fact, right now they are running an anniversary special for their 11th year and have many $11 items including steak and prime rib. My husband recently had what he called the best prime rib he's had in a long time (and we have been to "upscale" restaurants in the area) and it was an $11 prime rib! No scimping just because its an anniversary special - always top shelf!

Hi Shauna, thanks for your input. The way this voting worked is we had a separate poll in each town, and then matched up those winners for a Lincoln-Way showdown.
In the Mokena voting, Mr. Benny's was the winner: http://mokena.patch.com/articles/readers-choice-who-grills-mokena-s-favorite-steak

Isn't Jenny's the place that closed in Frankfort? Did it reopen in Mokena, because that can't be there 11 years. That area wasn't even built then. I think its the place that serves their steaks on hot plates right? I remember not going back to a place for that reason. Steak was really dry and overcooked by the time I got it. Steaks should never be on a hot plate! I might be wrong, but I think thats the place.

So you would rather have a school trained chef, than at least 40 years of experience that the other two have? I'll take experience any day. Williamson's and Benny's have my vote. Staples in this community for years!

Wife and I had two great steaks at Benny's two weeks ago. Place was packed, had to wait additional 45 minutes with our reservation. Sure it's much more expensive than Williamsons- but that is what a great steak, great service, and great atmosphere is all about.

Williamson's is the only place to get a great steak, great service and great atmpsphere and no you don't have to pay 3 times as much as the other two.

Your right williamsons should not be in this catagory with restaurants that have a very limited menu and charge more for the SAME great quality that obviously all three of these restaurants must have, because they are all winners. They are different restaurants and they do have different prices, and very different menus but this was a general poll of who has best steaks. To say that williamsons serves cheap food without quality is obsurd. They won their category and obviously a lot of people agreed that their steaks were the best in new lenox. To say they shouldn't even be considered when they are the busiest restaurant in the area is ridiculous. Great job to all three!

I totally agree, Frank. Dan McGee's has fantastic food that can't even compare to the half-step-up-from-a-truckstop that Williamson's is. How anyone can think that is quality food is beyond me.

wow jamiev, your really harsh. This is a neighborhood contest. To call a restaurant a step up from a truck stop, sounds pretty personal. Did they fire you or something? It looks like a lot of people would disagree with you!

jamie, what do you like to eat there? there isn't much on their menu, from their website and only one steak. How is this place even in a steak contest? Suggest what is so fantastic for the rest of us please.

No, they didn't fire me. I don't work in the food industry. I know good food. I ate there once and had an absolutely horrible meal. The chicken was unfrozen, processed and poor quality. My mom ate there and got food poisoning. I just don't get why so many people are raving about it.

As for what I like to eat at Dan McGee's, take your pick. I've not had a bad meal there. You don't need to have a huge menu to have good quality food cooked correctly. Sometimes it's better to do a few things really well, instead of a hundred things mediocre.

I do agree with a few people here, it's obvious jamie has a vendeta with a place she only ate at once. And to claim food poisoning for your mother after the fact they were declared the winner (by a landslide) is a little suspicious. Not to mention, you never did actually suggest an item on mcgees menu. I doubt you've ever been there. Everyone remembers their favorite meal!

I agree that all three are winners. I have only been to Mcgees once and it was ok, and Mr. Bennys serves a decent meal. But my vote for best steak in Lincoln way area is williamsons. They just cook the steaks exactly like I order and I can cut through them with a butter knife. I tried their steak monday night and thought they were going to cut back on quality for their special 10.00 price, but that definitly was not the case. All of our steaks were exactly what we get any other day. I'm not sure how they do it, but it was great. We prefer to go on other days, because Mondays are so busy. Their prices are reasonable anyway.

I've tried all three restaurants and Mr. Benny's is by far the best. Their steaks and lobster are phenomenal. I've been to Gibson's and the Chop House in Chicago and Benny's is definitely comparable, if not better.

George, have you ever heard of mass marketing? Facebook, text messaging..etc. I can help you with Mr. Benny's if you need! My vote actually goes to McGees. Haven't been to the other ones. But sounds like they got a lot of customers. Might need to make the trip to new lenox.
